GM adds 50 robots at Detroit EV plant while laid-off workers wait
General Motors has added about 50 collaborative robots at Factory ZERO in Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan, after more than 1,000 hourly workers were listed in a state layoff filing tied to slower near-term electric vehicle adoption.
The facility, formally listed as Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, sits at 2500 East Grand Boulevard in Detroit. GM describes it as the company’s first fully dedicated electric vehicle assembly plant and says it produces the GMC HUMMER EV Pickup and SUV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV and Cadillac Escalade IQ.
Microsoft brings Point-in-Time restore feature to Windows 11 with KB5095093 update
Microsoft has released a preview version of new month’s Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 in the form of the KB5095093 update. This cumulative update includes various changes and additions, not least of which is the arrival of Point-in-time restore.
The company says that this feature “helps you quickly roll back your PC, including apps, settings, and personal files, to a recent automatic restore point”. There are various other improvements to the operating system including numerous changes to widgets.
John Ternus is expected to give Apple’s design team more influence as CEO
John Ternus is preparing to take over Apple with more time inside the company’s design operation, according to a 9to5Mac report based on Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter. The report says Ternus has spent a considerable amount of time with Apple’s industrial design group before his Sept. 1, 2026, succession date, when Apple says Tim Cook will become executive chairman and Ternus will become CEO under its official CEO succession plan.
Apple announced the change April 20 from Cupertino, California, saying its board of directors approved the transition unanimously after a long-term succession process. The leadership handover puts Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, in the top job after Cook remains CEO through the summer.
Google invests $75m in movie studio A24
As part of its on-going push into artificial intelligence, Google is investing around $75m in movie studio A24. The teaming up means that the movie studio will have access to Google’s DeepMind AI, and there are already AI-based projects underway.
Interestingly, the terms of the deal are such that A24 is not limited to using only Google’s tools – the studio is free to turn to other company’s AI powers as well.
Google brings financial advertiser verification to the whole of Europe
In a bid to stop people from falling victim to scams, Google has announced that it is expanding its financial advertiser verification program across Europe.
The move means that every member state in the European Union and European Economic Area will benefit from the verification program. Google says that the idea is to help stop scams from taking off before they even start to take hold.

Crypto Clipper uses USB drives and Tor to steal wallet data
Microsoft Threat Intelligence and Microsoft Defender Experts have identified a Windows cryptocurrency clipper campaign that has affected users since February 2026. The malware targets clipboard data, wallet credentials and cryptocurrency addresses through Windows Script Host and ActiveX-driven logic.
Microsoft said the campaign begins with malicious .lnk shortcut files distributed through USB storage devices. When a user opens one of the shortcuts, the file stages a worm component that checks whether the device is already infected and, if not, retrieves the payload through Tor.
